Like me, do you have a love of baking shows? Is there a particular one you like where you need to identify the cake from a lineup of similar items? As much as I love watching baking shows, I struggle to pick out the cake. Leading me to wonder if I could build a model to better find the cakes for me.
Join me as I attempt to use pre-existing models to find the cake. I'll also try to build my own image classification model, and use it in a simple web app to see if we can find the cake better than a machine learning model.

Software Engineering & the Social Battery
Byte Size (INTERMEDIATE level)
Software Engineering is a unique software industry segment as it involves regular social interaction with developer communities at meetups and conferences alongside the various meetings, pairing and solo coding time that lurch us between extremes of social activity and isolation. Contrary to the stereotype of a lone introverted developer, everyone working in tech can sit anywhere on the introvert/ extrovert scale. As an extrovert with introverted tendencies, I’ve often found some of these events to be as draining as they are engaging.
In this talk, I discuss the factors that impact our social battery generally and those specific to software engineering. I’ll also share tips on managing your social battery, learned from my wonderful colleagues, and tips you can use to manage your social battery and well-being as well as those we engage with within the developer community.
