The Future of Home Automation

Mind the Geek

Back in 2017 I talked about "Home Automation in Practice" and in the past 4 years things have really changed. The IOT market has exploded, security has evolved, but the core problems still exist. I don't want to be cold, but I don't want to be poor. I don't want to walk in the dark, but I don't want to wake the baby. I need to be able to open the front door if the internet goes down.

Let's revisit the state of the Home Automation world, once again drawing from Dan's experience in automating his home through a pandmiec with the latest tech. Hopefully, you'll leave enlightened about the art of the possible and equippeed to take your first steps building an Alexa skill, build a sensor based machine learning control system, or just get started with a smart security system. If nothing else, you should enjoy the entertaining arduous journey and learn from my mistakes!
