Brian Ingmanson is the Education Engagement Lead for the IBM Quantum Community Team. He works with students and educators around the world to host engaging events and create new learning pathways into the field of quantum computing. Brian left his classroom after 6 years of public education and joined IBM Quantum in 2019. He holds a B.S. and M.A. in Education from the University of Connecticut. Brian frequently presents on stage for adults and students, and sometimes plays the drums. Occasionally he's known to do both at the same time.
Music has often been leveraged to demonstrate new computing technologies. For example, in the 1950s an ILLIAC computer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign was programmed to compose a string quartet.
In this session, James will give an introduction to quantum computing, and demonstrate how a quantum computer can collaborate in composing what James calls “quantum dance music”. He will then discuss the development and implementation of the Quantum Music Playground application on IBM quantum computers.
